Our Story 

Founder, Kalvinder Chaggar is a hard-working and passionate chef. Her obsession with flavour and devotion to plant-based cooking has led her on her journey to Earthly Umami. She started Kal’s Kitchen in 2019 with the aim to share her creative and delicious recipes through home deliveries and bespoke dinner parties. 

She noticed that often plant-based alternatives are dull in flavour or contain high levels of salt to enhance them. She knew there must be a way to create vegan meals which are both flavoursome and healthy and so began her journey with Umami. She researched, tried and tested many different variations until she mastered the perfect combination. The blend lifts vegetarian dishes into a different dimension. Kal’s Kitchen’s sister company has been born - Earthly Umami. Earthly Umami harnesses umami found in healthy organic foods such as mushroom, tomato and miso to boost flavour and add a new dimension to savoury dishes of all sorts.

The Umami blend is not only perfect for vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians but can also be used on meat dishes and in gravies to enhance them and give them that extra kick.
